Fifty Things to Do In Belgium Before You Leave

We know dozens of people who have moved in to Belgium with their job on an assignment of one or two years, and twenty years later they are still here!

Whether you are in Belgium for a short while or are perhaps here to stay, you will soon find that the country is rich in art, culture and history. The people are sometimes quiet and reserved but are always polite and friendly and the food and drink is a gourmet’s delight.

There is a current trend to create lists - “100 things to do before you are 30”, “50 top TV Moments” and the like and we thought that it was an opportunity to create a dynamic list of things to do in Belgium before you leave.

We have started the list off with some personal recommendations but we want the list to grow and develop, being truly dynamic. It should include things for families to do, teenagers to enjoy and also quieter, perhaps more adult experiences. Some recommendations are for whole week-ends, others can be enjoyed in just an hour or two. There are numerous books which recommend museums or art galleries and we will also include some of these but in addition we want great restaurants that you will remember for many a day, walks in open countryside far away from it all and special sights that don’t appear in any guide books but are best known to the locals.

Please let us have your comments on the entries that are here – and we will include them on the web site to share with other users. In addition, let us have your suggestions; the best recommendations are those that have been made by like-minded people able to tell the story from first hand.
