Gourmet Belgium - A Chocoholics Delight

There are many wonderful chocolatiers in Belgium. Our recommendation of one here does not detract from the others. May be over time you could visit and sample them all!!

However, if planning a visit, take care. Several of the Chocolatiers will only allow visits in organised groups so it may be worth getting some friends together. In addition, make sure that your visit can be escorted in a language that you can understand, even though chocolate is understood by everyone.

La Chocolaterie Manon is one of the few Belgian chocolate companies to make and dip their chocolates by hand. No fancy machines – there are only two machines of any type in the factory. Some of the chocolates require as many as 10 steps to complete.

Just to set your mouth watering, the Bouchon is one of their most popular - a large bittersweet chocolate cup filled with crème fraiche and topped with milk chocolate, enfolding a Cognac buttercream dotted with 24 karat gold. Need we say more?
