Etterbeek

The Area
At the city end of the Avenue de Tervuren, several EU institutions are based within the locality, including the Parliament and the Council of Ministers.

The Cinquantenaire Museum is also within the locality.

The main squares, Marie-Louise and Ambiorix, are officially in Brussels City but everyone still considers the area as being part of Etterbeek. The Square Marie-Louise is undoubtedly the most opulent, with its lake naturally filled with water from the Maelbeek. the Mansion houses around the square are some of the most impressive buildings in the City, several indebted to architects of international repute. On its less prestigious avenues, Etterbeek is always a pleasant commune, mainly made up of former family homes split into single and split-level flats, known as duplexes.

The locality may be considered to lack some of the ambiance of other communes and is not as popular with families, offering more to singles and couples.

Accommodation
Many traditional townhouses have been converted to offices but there is still a good supply of attractive properties for sale and for rent from family homes to studio apartments.
