Orientation

Initial impressions and perceptions can be critical in the long term success of an assignment. It is important that the new location is “sold” to the family but at the same time, this must be open and honest, not hiding problems which could come to the fore at a later date.

One of our highly trained Personal Relocation Managers will be carefully selected for the task; our Personal Relocation Managers all have excellent interpersonal skills and know their subject location intimately. We will especially seek compatibility of language, cultural and family background when assigning one of our team to the task.

Before the orientation, the Personal Relocation Manager will contact the assignee and / or family, initially to introduce themselves but also to ascertain any hopes, expectations and matters of particular interest. A carefully prepared agenda will then be put together covering as many areas and items of interest as possible. On occasions it may be possible to see inside one or two specimen properties, dependant upon time and availability. Typically included in a normal tour would be:

  • Pick up at an agreed location, airport, hotel or station - we NEVER recommend that an orientation tour takes place immediately after a long flight; a period of rest is always essential in order to make full benefit of the tour,
  • Provision of a comprehensive Welcome Pack including maps, What’s On information, Schools information (if appropriate), Local attractions, Community Publications,
  • Escorted tour of potentially suitable areas for the family to live, concentrating on typical expat areas, looking at aspects of particular importance to the family such as schools, social and sporting facilities, transport services, community support,
  • Comment on drive times and travel to work arrangements,
  • Illustration of housing and accommodation costs,
  • Booking into hotel or similar temporary accommodation if required.

An orientation tour can be arranged for either ½ day or a full day.
